The Dan moccasin is the most iconic of the Penny Loafers, with a history that goes way back, as moccasins are said to be the very first shoes made by humanity, inspired by those of the Native American tribes in the state of Maine.

The first moccasins were hand-stitched using the "beef roll" technique, known for the distinctive small stitching around the front of the foot, which are still hand-stitched today by the finest artisans.
