1999 GEL-KAYANO™ 5 OG running shoe makes a comeback and keeps its original design. After an initial sketch on paper, designer Toshikazu Kayano was quick to emphasize the upper's resemblance to the bone structure, organs and muscles of the human anatomy.
Originally, this shoe made two improvements to the existing model lineage: the teardrop tongue and the QUADRA lacing system.
Working together, these technologies create an improved fit with better midfoot support.
The GEL-KAYANO™ 5 OG shoe features GEL™ cushioning technology in the heel for added comfort, while the layered application of components has become the foundation that still influences the shoe's design today.
